I was going to replace some textures with new ones, but i made a lot of work in a very little time (14 hs per day in 3 days) and i get kind of burn out of the game XD, so i will continue with a jet set radio texture pack and update dino crisis texture pack in a V2 later XD. The only bug left to fix is the shadow of characters/ dinosaurs in some places. In the future, i will update more textures of the game in a second release XD. The custom texture pack works with the "VGA FIX" PAL T7019D_06 (SPANISH) version of the game (I will update this texture pack for other pal versions as well ) One thing that i note is that, the emulator tend to crash sometimes when you use save-states with a custom texture pack applied, avoid saves-states if posible. Capcom originally insisted it was a new genre they called 'panic horror' because you fight dinosaurs. The first game had a lot of similarities to the company's other survival horror series, and came bundled with a demo of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Reicast doesnt have an option to prefetch the custom textures like in dolphin emulator (preload at the beginning of the emulation) so, if the texture is too big, theres a delay until the new texture loads ingame. Dino Crisis is a Survival Horror game series by Capcom that debuted in 1999. **INSTRUCTIONS: Create a folder with the name “textures” inside “system/dc” and, in there, put the folder “T7019D_06” And then, enable the option “Load custom textures” in Reicast options. They always learn the wrong lessons. The pack is a combination between upscaled Gigapixel textures and New textures, because i didnt like some textures and other were so low resolution than i cant improve them with gigapixel. However, Redditor Guilt圜ombo doesn't think that, if this is a test of some kind, it will result in what the community wants: "They'll act surprised when it tanks and assume no one wants dinosaur games. "Unless this is meant to gauge interest in Dinosaur video games at the moment. "Oh dear," said Reddit user T_sprigg_Z about Kobayashi's announcement. Others have remained more hopeful based on Kobayashi's involvement, with several speculating whether Exoprimal represents Capcom testing its audience's interest for a dinosaur-based game. Others have gone as far as to say that the game was altered from being a Dino Crisis entry: "You cannot convince me this wasn't a Dino Crisis game at some point in development," said stovetopism on Reddit. Stephanie Morgenstern is a Swiss-Canadian actress, voice actress, filmmaker, and screenwriter. It’s likely a big reason why Dino Crisis 3 sucks so much ass. Shortly after his post, multiple Twitter users replied to ask Kobayashi to remake Dino Crisis, or release a sequel, seemingly instead of Exoprimal. That feeling has been deepened by the fact that Hiroyuki Kobayashi – planner of the original Dino Crisis and producer on its two mainline sequels – has announced that he's involved in Exoprimal's development on Twitter. Over on the Dino Crisis subreddit, the response has been less than positive, with users calling the announcement " tone deaf", " cruel trolling", and " slapdash nonsense". When last week's Sony State of Play showed a Capcom game featuring dinosaur combat and a redheaded character with a resemblance to Dino Crisis' lead, Regina, many thought the wait was over.īut that hope was dashed when it was revealed to be a seemingly entirely separate co-op action game, Exoprimal. It hasn't seen a new entry since 2003, but retained a cult following over the intervening years. Dino Crisis first appeared in 1999, combining the survival horror spirit of Resident Evil with a dinosaur breakout storyline drawn from the likes of Jurassic Park.

No affiliation with the developer, just wanted to give a shout-out to a high quality piece of software that I've really appreciated using. Robust and performant import/export tools There's also good management of query history and saved queries. Multiple query tabs - I used to spawn multiple Sequel Pro instances because this was so hard to live without. Arbitrary WHERE clause support in the data view, so you don't need to switch to a full manual query as soon as you need slightly more complex conditions Some very basic features that felt like a big upgrade from Sequel Pro: It's Mac native, performant, and very stable. Interface-wise I found it to be easier/more familiar to switch to from Sequel Pro, as compared to some of the alternatives mentioned above - more on the light and nimble side, less on the heavy interface enterprisey-feeling side if that makes sense. It's not free in either sense of the word but well worth the ~$50 USD license IMO. I used and loved Sequel Pro for years, but interface limitations and crashes finally set me off looking for a replacement after some stressful production debugging sessions.Īfter trying a few like MySQL Workbench and Navicat, I landed on Querious and haven't looked back since. I see some convenience value in a tool like Ulysses, even if Org-mode could be used to achieve similar results, I don't see the value in utilities like BetterSnapTool and PDF Expert, since there's no extra polish that's not available on Linux as free software. Right, and my point is that on Linux utilities akin to BetterSnapTool, Alfred, Keyboard Maestro tend to be free software and not particularly worse in terms of polish. > From what I've seen, people on macOS are mostly paying for software like BetterTouchTool, Alfred, Keyboard Maestro, Hazel, Carbon Copy Cloner, Ulysses. When it comes to customer-facing apps, it is nowhere near Linux level and given the many more devs on the platform that speaks for something. There's many open-source libraries sure, but that's because of convenience. So yes, I meant those developing customer-facing software specific to the platform, not say webdevs on a Mac. Perhaps I worded this poorly, but I meant macOS developers as in Swift/ObjC/Cocoa, not developers in general who happen to be using a Mac. Just because it's not translating into free and open source consumer-facing projects on macOS does not imply that devs do not care about open source. > I see plenty of developers on mac or developing for mac using it to contribute to open source projects. Right and there are many basic file managers for Linux too, but there are also advanced ones that you don't have to pay for, which was my point. A vast majority of people are using the file manager for basic stuff. I use both platforms daily and while I agree that macOS has more 'polish' in terms of being more uniform, I don't think am overselling that there are many tools on Linux for which I have to pay on macOS to get similar capabilities. > You're overselling linux but underselling macOS. People are paying for options, convenience and polish. Few of these have convenient or easy to use alternatives on other platforms. Software which extends the core OS in a set of ways fitting a myriad set of needs - not for basic stuff. Ultimately, Woodall sees the industry and Carver being able to push through the challenges and get inventory under control by the first half of next year. So, this down trend is the flip side of the market conditions created by the pandemic and maybe it was a situation where the fuse was burning at both ends, but nobody saw it coming.” “It was a combination of a pandemic that was driving such high demand that it wasn’t sustainable. It was like nothing in our lifetimes that we’ve been through,” Woodall said. “This (downturn) was unique because it was pandemic driven. He’s been through several, so the how-to of climbing out of softening market conditions isn’t necessarily new for him and many others. That’s hit places such as Japan, Korea, Europe, Australia, and South Africa.Ĭoupled with the broader softening in skate hardgoods, it’s just another down cycle the industry is now working through, Woodall said. “So, the European buying power is less than it was.” “Ultimately, the international business is suffering from inflation and, in some areas, you have diminished currency exchange rates,” Woodall said. Overseas, Carver’s business has been choppy for various reasons. “We’re gathering data so we can effectively strike somewhere where it makes sense.”įrom the Carver x Channel Islands Surfboards collaboration. “We’re starting to see traction between snowboarders and Carver,” he said. The move into snow is described as still in its infancy, but there’s increased activity in mountain resort towns for Carver, according to Woodall. “It’s a slow drip, but its gaining ground and we’re able to onboard new accounts monthly if not weekly to bring surfskate to areas that aren’t predominantly coastal,” Woodall said of the sales team’s progress. States such as Arizona, Texas, Colorado, and Ohio are all seeing traction, along with the broader Midwest. The company’s observed meet-up groups for various board sports pop up in the Great Lakes region, which is where the company’s positioned a new sales rep. There’s also potential in less traditional surfing groups, including river surfing and stand-up paddle boarding in non-coastal markets. And, Woodall said, the collaboration with Venice-based female-founded skate collective GRLSWIRL is further fueling that growth.Įlsewhere, as more wave pool projects currently in the development pipeline come online, they represent another major initiative Carver sees as a growth play for the brand. That segment continues to gain ground for Carver. Women’s is a group that had been steadily growing pre-pandemic, corresponding with what’s happening more broadly in pro-surfing for women. “As much as Carver is a surf trainer and skateboard, it’s also a lifestyle just to invite more people into the space from different areas and different demographics,” Woodall said. Seizing OpportunitiesĮven with the current headwinds, the company sees several avenues for growth. That includes interesting collaborations, such as the previously mentioned work with Maje.Ĭarver Ambassador Taylor Arroway. So, it’s just been an effort to right-size the market, working with our distributors to balance our inventory, which in turn has created a higher volume of marketing all around the world for Carver’s distributors.” “A lot of skate companies got stuck with a lot of inventory. “We just traded the pandemic for a war and global inflation and it all came to a grinding halt that caught everyone off guard,” said Carver Vice President of Sales Eben Woodall. Now, it’s ramped up more marketing efforts, in the way of collaborations and events, to help push product. It’s a different scenario from the one Carver found itself in in 2020 and much of 2021, when it couldn’t produce boards fast enough to keep up with pandemic-induced demand, coupled with a trajectory that began well before COVID. That momentum’s being complemented by a raft of events, including demo days, surf contests, the X-Games inauguration day, Ride Together Surfskate Jam tour (a recent one was held this month at Wave Rave in Torrance), and the GRLSWIRL Swirl Fest 2023 coming up Aug. That deal in particular made sense with women’s being one of the largest-growing demographics for Carver, in addition to kids and non-surfers. Take the collaboration with Parisian women’s ready-to-wear brand Maje initiated by a French distributor and used for social media giveaways. By Kari Hamanaka | Published Jul 17, 2023Ĭarver Skateboards, based in Gardena, California, has been clawing its way out of the market about-face that began early last year, firing up marketing that’s helped it reach well beyond the core as it rides out a hardgoods downturn. The cancelled Type UG in particular was its main inspiration. The Type VII was based on earlier designs, which in fact went back to the Type UB III of late WWI. Their range was 13,300 to 16,700 km, they can dive to 50m, had five TTs, one or two 10.5 cm guns, could run at 13,5 knots in surface and 7,5 knots submerged. The Type UB-III of WWI (1917) was also the most prolific (90 boats built) and successful of German U-Boats in WW1. The Type-VII therefore had to be relatively small to be be built en masse before meeting this tonnage ceiling. In addition, the new submarine could not succeed a tonnage requirement set by England, which stated that the German Kriegsmarine could have 35% of the tonnage of the Royal Navy (1930 London treaty). Genesis of the perfect U-Boat Designs for the Type-VIIA went back as early as 1933, and it was chosen for production based on the following specs, in range, armament, ease of manufacture, and required manpower. Last Type-VII decommissioned in 1970s Spain (See Spanish Submarines). With that being said, the Type-VII was one of the best submarines of World War 2, and one of the most prolific, comparing the 700 boats to the 1,156 grand total of U-Boats built by Germany during the war. They were improved from existing 1930s designs and found it seems the perfect formula, reflected in their weight in the war and extensive production: With more than 700 completed for over 1100 laid down, they are still today the largest submarine production type in history. While they did have their faults, German U-Boats and the Type-VII in particular didn’t have near the amount of problems displayed by tanks such as the "big cats", some guns such as the G-41 and G-43, and planes such as the ME-163. Type-VII U-Boats (1933) Germany (1933), About 700 subs A Massive Improvement of U-Boat designs If German tanks, aircraft and small arms from the German manufacturing complex had won a considerable and fearsome reputation in WW2, German submarines truly reached the world stage as the epitome of the genre, with just the perfect balance of engineering, simplicity, and ease of manufacture.
